IHS Markit expects global photovoltaic expansion at 142 gigawatts 2020

The global photovoltaic market will grow by 14 percent in 2020 to 142 gigawatts of newly installed capacity. IHS Markit published this forecast on Tuesday. As in 2019, growth in the double-digit percentage range will be achieved. Compared to the worldwide expansion of photovoltaics ten years ago, this amounts to a sevenfold increase. There is also increased diversification in regional distribution. While in 2010 there were seven countries with an installed photovoltaic output of more than one gigawatt, by the end of 2020 there will be more than 43 countries, it was said.

Insgesamt sind in den ersten elf Monaten 2019 damit gut 3,6 Gigawatt neue Photovoltaik-Leistung in Deutschland installiert worden. Der Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft ist trotz der anziehenden Nachfrage mit dem Ausbautempo nicht zufrieden. Die Solarförderung ist zum Start ins Jahr erneut um ein Prozentpunkt gesunken.
